At the Smithers Art Gallery, we are passionate about promoting and celebrating the vibrant visual arts scene in Smithers, BC. As a non-profit community gallery, we are dedicated to showcasing the talents of local, regional, and provincial artists, while providing a platform for art education and engagement.

Our mission is to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for artists, art enthusiasts, and the community to come together and experience the beauty and diversity of artistic expression. We strive to inspire creativity, foster artistic growth, and promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the arts.

Our Services

We offer a range of services and programs designed to engage and inspire artists and the community. Our exhibition program features a diverse range of solo and group exhibitions, showcasing the work of local, regional, and provincial artists. We also provide a variety of educational art programming for all ages, including art camps and free art activities for kids in the summer, beginner-intermediate level workshops for adults and older youth, and advanced-level workshops for experienced artists.

Gallery Rentals

Our gallery is available for rent for private events, meetings, and workshops. We offer a unique and inspiring space that can accommodate up to 30-40 pieces of wall art, depending on size. Our gallery can be divided into two connected spaces, referred to as the Main Gallery and the Mini Gallery, providing flexibility and versatility for your event.

Membership and Commissions

We offer memberships to artists and art enthusiasts, providing benefits such as reduced commission rates on sales, voting rights, and opportunities to participate in member-only exhibitions. Our commission rates are 25% for members and 30% for non-members.

CARFAC Payments

We are committed to supporting artists and ensuring they receive fair compensation for their work. We make payments to exhibiting artists based on the CARFAC 2024 fee schedule, and payments are made within 30 days of the end of an artist's exhibition.

History

The Smithers Art Gallery is located in the historic Central Park Building on Main Street and Hwy 16, which was originally built in 1925. Our gallery is run by a non-profit organization and is dedicated to promoting the visual arts in Smithers and beyond.
