Empowering Excellence Through Hockey, Building Stronger Communities

Welcome to the Abbotsford Karate Club - Sekukan, a traditional Japanese-style karate dojo that has been in operation since 1972. Our dojo was founded on the principles of discipline, respect, and self-mastery, which are essential for personal growth and development. Our experienced instructors, Chief Instructor Paul Sexton and Instructor Ted Gosling, are dedicated to helping our students achieve their goals and improve their physical and mental well-being.

Our History

Our dojo has a rich history, dating back to 1972 when our founder, Sensei Robert Sidoli, established the original Abbotsford dojo. Over the years, our dojo has been fortunate to have had the guidance and instruction of many renowned masters and instructors, including Sensei Hidetada Narumi, Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama, Sensei Hirakazu Kanazawa, Sensei Toru Yamaguchi, Sensei Ikuo Higuchi, Sensei Mitsunori Kobayashi, and Sensei Tak Sameshima. Our association with these revered instructors has allowed us to refine our skills and techniques, ensuring that our students receive the best possible training.

Our Instructors

Our instructors are experienced karateka with a deep understanding of the art. Chief Instructor Paul Sexton, a sixth degree black belt, has been training in karate and traditional Okinawan weapons for over 40 years.
