Beginner Driver Education
As a leading provider of beginner driver education, Road Rules has graduated thousands of beginner drivers since its inception in 1998. Our BDE course comprises 20 hours of in-class, 10 hours of homework, and 10 hours of in-car training. Additionally, we offer private in-car lessons, and instructor's vehicles may be rented for the road test, subject to satisfactory private lesson completion. Upon graduating from the Road Rules BDE program, students can sit the G2 drivers test after eight months instead of 12 months.
Remedial Driving Programs
We offer remedial driving programs designed to help drivers who have lost or are at risk of losing their license due to medical reasons. Our programs cater to mobility issues requiring adaptive equipment and traumatic crashes resulting in cognitive impairments and PTSD. Our remedial programs are tailored to meet the unique needs of each driver, ensuring they receive the necessary support to maintain their driving independence.
Driver Rehabilitation
At Road Rules Driving School, we provide comprehensive driver rehabilitation services to help drivers regain their confidence and skills on the road. We work with clients before the courts charged with impaired driving (alcohol, cannabis, opioids), road rage, and stunt driving. Our programs are designed to help drivers understand the consequences of their actions and provide them with the necessary tools to become safe and responsible drivers.
Driver Improvement and Defensive Driver Courses
We are also MTO-Approved to instruct both Driver Improvement (DIC) and Defensive Driver courses (DDC), for those mandated to take these programs after being involved in too many crashes or the accumulation of tickets or demerit points.
Drivechek Program
Our Drivechek program is an on-road fitness-to-drive assessment that provides a proactive opportunity to identify potential red flags before they cause more serious problems. This program is designed to help drivers maintain their driving independence while ensuring the safety of themselves and others on the road.
Meet the Instructors
Our team of certified in-car and in-class driving instructors and trainers are dedicated to providing the highest quality of driving education. Founder Matthew Rivers started driving at an early age on his parent's farm and has since become a leader in the driving industry. Janet Rivers, co-founder, graduated with a BA (Hons) from Bishop's University and a Master's of Education degree (M.Ed dean's list) from the University of Toronto. She has received extensive continuing education in driver rehabilitation and is considered a leader in driver anxiety.
