Experience the ultimate camping experience on Hornby Island

Tribune Bay Campsite is a private campground situated next to the stunning Tribune Bay Provincial Park. As of 2021, the British Columbia government has acquired the campground and adjacent forested lands. While the government initiates significant discussions with local Indigenous groups and stakeholders, Quality Recreation Ltd. will operate the private campground for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Quality Recreation Ltd. has been operating both Tribune Bay and Helliwell Provincial Parks since 2017 and is proud to care for this unique location on Hornby Island. With over 40 years of experience managing some of British Columbia's most cherished provincial parks, the company is committed to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the campground and the surrounding area.

Facilities

Tribune Bay Campsite offers 115 drive-in sites, each with a fire pit and picnic table. Seventeen sites have electrical hook-ups. The layout of the sites varies, offering a mix of privacy and open spaces to accommodate diverse camping needs. The campground aims to foster a respectful shared space, promoting family-friendly camping and discouraging discourteous behaviours.

The following amenities are available at the campground:

  • Campground office with firewood and ice for sale
  • Coin-operated hot showers (Please note: As of August 2023, showers have been closed due to drought conditions. There will be no shower services available for the rest of the 2023 season.)
  • Outhouses
  • Ladies' and men's wash houses with outlets for hair dryers and razors
  • A new rustic children's play area

Please be aware that water conservation efforts are in place at this campground due to Hornby Island's limited freshwater supply. We kindly request that you bring freshwater with you, limit the frequency and duration of your showers, and follow any additional water conservation guidelines. There is no sani-station at the campsite or on the island, so please plan accordingly.
