Make our home your home. Where care and service prevail.
Welcome to Betel Home Foundation, a non-profit organization that operates 171 personal care home beds in the Interlake Region of Manitoba. We are committed to providing exceptional standards of care that enhance the quality of life for our residents. Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to ensure that each resident is treated with dignity and respect, allowing them to live in full recognition of their individuality.
At Betel Home, we believe that the quality of each resident's life is directly affected by the care they receive. Our Board, Administration, Staff, and Volunteers all work together to create a homelike environment that enables our residents to live with a sense of purpose and belonging. We welcome you to explore our two homes, both of which offer the same exceptional quality of care.
History of Betel
The name "Betel" comes from the House of God, where Jacob laid his head on a stone and dreamed a dream. The Betel Home Foundation was founded by a small group of Icelandic Lutheran Women who shared a vision of providing a home for those in need. The first Betel Home opened its doors to nine residents on March 1, 1915, in rented quarters at 354 William Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 1915, the Home was moved to permanent quarters in Gimli and expanded over the years to house 95 residents. In 1990, a new 80-bed facility opened on this site, and in 1966, a new Home was built in Selkirk and expanded upon in 1970. Today, Selkirk is home to 91 residents, and we operate an 80-bed Personal Care Home in Gimli, Manitoba, and a 91-bed Personal Care Home in Selkirk, Manitoba.
