What to Expect During Your Visit
Upon your arrival at Beck Hearing Aid Centre, you will be greeted by our welcoming and professional staff. Our process includes the following steps:
- Patient History: Our hearing healthcare specialist will inquire about your medical history, hearing loss symptoms, and any specific words or sounds you're having trouble hearing. They will want to know about your lifestyle, medications, and any history of head or ear trauma.
- Physical Examination: The specialist will carefully examine your ear canals for any abrasions, impacted wax, or other issues. You will have the option to view the inside of your ear canals using our video otoscope.
- Testing: A series of tests will be conducted in our large, sound-proof booth to determine if you have hearing loss and at what frequencies, how you process speech in noise, and what your word recognition is like. The specialist will test the tympanic pressure in your middle ear.
- Consultation: Once the testing is complete, the specialist will explain the results and offer advice on hearing loss or tinnitus treatment, cerumen (wax) management, and further testing. This is the time to ask any questions and make sure you are clear on your results. There is never any pressure to purchase anything.
The Importance of Early Intervention and Debunking Myths
According to Statistics Canada (2013), 45-87% of people have some degree of hearing loss. Early intervention is crucial for maintaining your overall hearing health and quality of life. At Beck Hearing Aid Centre, we are dedicated to combating common misconceptions about hearing loss and hearing aids.
Myth #1: I only have mild hearing loss. It's not a big deal, I can wait until it's worse to seek help.
Fact: Join the conversation! Don't let hearing loss slow you down. Early intervention is key, so book your appointment with Beck today and see how we can help.
Myth #2: Hearing aids are big and ugly. Only older people need and wear hearing aids.
Fact: Today's technology is powerful and discreet, with most of our devices being less noticeable than eyeglasses. 90% of people with hearing loss would benefit from the use of a hearing aid.
