Inspiring a foundation of excellence in our community

The Grande Prairie Gymnastics Society has been an integral part of the Grande Prairie community for over forty years. Established in 1973 by a group of parents, including Dr. Bob Waldenberger and Diana (Kuhlman) Tissington, who shared a passion for gymnastics, the Society has grown to become a registered society that is highly regarded in the community.

Bethe Goldie, a retired Physical Education instructor at the Grande Prairie Regional College, pioneered a tradition of coaching excellence that the Grande Prairie Gymnastics Society continues to uphold. The Club initially trained in 'set up, take down' multipurpose facilities, with the GPRC gymnasium serving as its first training center. After many years, the Club moved to a 3000 sq. foot multipurpose center located next to Tartan Auto Body in the Richmond Industrial Park.

The Society's first 'dedicated space' facility was acquired through the purchase of a 10,000 sq. foot warehouse located behind the Quality Hotel in the industrial park. In September of 2005, the Grande Prairie Gymnastics Society moved to its current world-class 50,000 sq. foot gymnastics training center, which is considered one of the biggest and most advanced gymnastics training centers in the world.

Our Services

The Grande Prairie Gymnastics Society offers a wide range of services for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Our services include:

  • Recreational Active Start (Pre-School): We offer a variety of programs for kids 4 and under, including Kindergym and Active Start programs. These programs are designed to develop gross motor skills and introduce children to the fundamentals of gymnastics and cheerleading.
  • Cheerleading: Our recreational cheerleading programs for ages 6+ offer an opportunity to "try out" a cheer program without the financial and time commitments of all-star (competitive) teams. During the session, students learn all the fundamentals of cheerleading, including stunting, tumbling, jumps, motions, dance, formations, and cheers.
  • Recreational Gymnastics: Available for ages 5+, our recreational gymnastics division offers a series of progressive gymnastics programs that incorporate vault, bars, beam, and floor. Each level incorporates different progressions that must be mastered before moving on to the next level.
  • Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG): Our Women's Artistic Program (WAG) gives athletes the opportunity to pursue high-level gymnastics with some of our top certified coaches. This program is invite-only.
  • Trampoline & Tumbling (T&T): T&T conjures images of precise dismounts and stunning twists. T&T gymnasts exemplify aerial speed and power in their dynamic routines. Trampoline became an Olympic sport at Sydney 2000. Canada has won seven Olympic medals in the event to date, highlighted by having a woman on the podium at the first five Games.
  • Parkour: Parkour is a training discipline that develops physical strength, flexibility, agility, and quick thinking. It is a holistic practice that focuses on movement through any environment, and our parkour programs are designed to help participants develop the skills and confidence to move with grace and efficiency.

Our facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art gymnastics equipment, including trampolines, tumbling mats, bars, beams, and vaulting tables. Our certified coaches provide a safe and supportive environment for all participants, regardless of their skill level.

In addition to our regular classes and programs, we also offer summer camps, birthday parties, and school groups. We are committed to providing high-quality gymnastics programs that inspire a foundation of excellence in our community.
