Mixed Experience with Hearing Aid
Don W. Johnson, a hearing aid user, shared his experience with the Bernafon hearing aid. He had previously used a Rexton hearing aid, but due to his deteriorating hearing, his specialist switched him to the Bernafon for more volume. Johnson's experience with the Bernafon was disappointing, as he found the fitting to be poor and most channels ineffective. Specifically:
- Channel 1: All-Purpose Channel - Fair
+ Johnson found that this channel was somewhat effective, but still produced sound static at high volume.
- Channel 4: TV and Music - Poor
+ This channel was not effective and produced static at high volume, with no improvement over Channel 1.
- Channel 3: Background Noise Reduction - Terrible
+ Johnson found that this channel did not work at all.
- Channel 2: Telephone Assisted Hearing - Terrible
+ This channel was also ineffective and didn't work.
Next Steps
Johnson's hearing specialist has re-programmed the hearing aid three to four times to adjust to his loss, but still didn't experience improvement. Johnson plans to have a full hearing examination with audiologists at a hearing centre to assess all aspects of his hearing and seek new recommendations for a hearing aid.
