Learn, Grow, Thrive with Us!
At Allen-Detweiler Nursery School, we believe that early childhood education is the foundation of a lifelong journey of learning and growth. Our commitment to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment has made us a trusted name in Kingston, Ontario, for over 50 years.
Our History
Established in 1967, our school is named in memory of two Kingston women, Isobel Allen and Joyce Detweiler, who dedicated their lives to children's programs. As a co-operative nursery school, we are licensed by the Ministry of Education and operate under the direct participation of our parents in the school community. This unique approach allows us to create a sense of belonging and responsibility among our families, which is essential for the growth and development of our children.
Our Program
Our program is designed to promote experiential learning and social skills in an innovative and specialized way. We welcome children from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and provide a friendly atmosphere that stimulates their growth and development. Our main emphasis is on learning social skills through cooperative play and organized activities, which helps our children develop important life skills such as communication, empathy, and problem-solving.
Our Services
We offer two programs: Toddler and Preschool. Our Toddler program is designed for children aged 18-30 months, and our Preschool program is for children aged 2.5-5 years. Our experienced and dedicated teachers provide a nurturing environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. We also offer a range of support services, including registration and fundraising programs, to help our families navigate the educational journey of their children.
Our Mission
At Allen-Detweiler Nursery School, our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of our children. We believe that every child is unique and deserves to be respected, encouraged, and supported as they grow and learn.
