Van Belle Flowers, a reputable business in the Clarington and Durham Regions, takes great pride in celebrating over 60 years of dedicated service in the floral and plant industry. Our origins trace back to Holland, where the Segers family opened the first flower shop in Enschede in 1925. The love for floristry blossomed when William Van Belle met Martha Segers, leading them to open a floral boutique of their own. With the business growing and their family expanding, the war forced them to immigrate to Canada in 1949. In 1958, they established Van Belle Flowers and Garden Centre at our current 8-acre location just outside Bowmanville.

Over the years, our family-owned business has evolved and grown. Harry, one of William's children, decided to continue the family tradition and, along with his wife Ada, founded Van Belle Flowers and Garden Centre. The business thrived, and our product offerings expanded, as did our family and customer base. We have since opened satellite stores, including our Whitby location, which has been in operation for over 30 years. In 1986, we started Belle Floral, a wholesale cut flower and plant company, servicing flower shops as far east as Kingston, north to Haliburton and the GTA.

In 1996, the company underwent significant changes following Ada's passing and Harry's retirement. However, under the exceptional leadership of Carl, his wife Karen, Ruth, Martha, and Jackie, Van Belle Flowers has continued to thrive. Although we were saddened by Carl's passing in 2022, his dynamic and personable character remains an inspiration to us all. Today, Ruth, Martha, Jackie, and Karen, together with our dedicated team, operate Van Belle Flowers and Belle Floral Wholesale.

Throughout our 60 years of existence, we have committed ourselves to providing quality fresh cut flowers at reasonable prices, ensuring 100% customer satisfaction. We have been honored with the "Favourite Florist" title for the past 10 years in the Durham and Clarington regions and ranked as one of FTD's "Top 25 Florists" in Canada.
