Partnering with you to provide exceptional equine care

MacLeod Equine is a mobile veterinary practice that offers on-site farm services, located in the scenic region of Caledon, Ontario. At MacLeod Equine, we strive to build a personal relationship with each of our clients, allowing us to understand and cater to their specific goals and needs. We believe that this relationship is an integral component to the overall health and well-being of the equines in our care.

General Care

Our general care services include, but are not limited to, vaccination, deworming, geriatric medicine, ophthalmology, endoscopy, respiratory care, dentistry, lameness, and reproductive disease prevention and control. We also offer emergency care for our clients, as well as Coggins, health papers, and insurance exams.

Lameness

Lameness is a term used to describe any number of conditions that prevent an equine from traveling in a regular and sound manner on all four feet. Our lameness exams begin with a full history and physical examination of the horse, followed by a visual gait analysis, and, if necessary, nerve blocks, digital radiographs, and digital ultrasound. We take the time necessary to thoroughly examine your horse and to discuss the best options for diagnosis and treatment, taking into account your goals and financial constraints.

Reproduction

At MacLeod Equine, we offer a range of reproductive services, including breeding soundness examinations, ultrasound examinations for timed breedings, artificial insemination (using both fresh and frozen semen), and infertility diagnostics (including uterine cultures, cytology, biopsy, and lavage). We also provide pre-foaling and post-foaling care, as well as 24-hour emergency services, and stallion collection.

Pre-Purchase Examinations

Buying a horse can be a stressful and complicated process. At MacLeod Equine, we offer pre-purchase examinations to help ease the uncertainty of purchasing a new horse. Our pre-purchase exams include the collection of historical information regarding the horse, a thorough physical examination, and a thorough gait evaluation, comprised of a hands-on exam and visual gait analysis. Our goal is to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the horse's health and overall condition, allowing you to make an informed decision regarding your purchase.
