Welcome to R. Dobbin Engineering Inc., a civil engineering consulting firm that has proudly served the Lambton/Chatham-Kent/Middlesex area since 1986. Our company started as a single-employee operation, providing engineer reports under the Drainage Act. Over the years, we have expanded our services to include concrete box culverts, site plan development, residential subdivision development, and municipal engineering. Today, we have a team of eleven experienced professionals, including Ray Dobbin, Bill Van Ruitenburg, Dani Mezzatesta, Josh Warner, Teresa Zimmerman, David Moores, Dylan Krall, Corey Saunders, Jake Tetreault, Colin Janssen, and Chris Wild.

At R. Dobbin Engineering Inc., we are proud of our in-house survey capabilities, which include a GPS unit for precise measurements and an ATV unit for surveys of large areas. Our team's skills and expertise enable us to take on a wide range of projects, from municipal drainage and bridge inspection to road reconstruction and residential subdivision development.

Our History

R. Dobbin Engineering Inc. was founded by Ray Dobbin, P. Eng., who recognized the need for civil engineering services in the local area after retiring from the Township of Enniskillen. Since then, the company has grown into a successful business, thanks to Ray's knowledge, experience, and the help of a motivated team. In 2010, Bill Van Ruitenburg joined the firm, bringing his skills in surveying, drafting, site plan development, and residential subdivision development. The company purchased its current offices at 4218 Oil Heritage Road in Petrolia in 2011. Dani Mezzatesta joined the firm in 2012, adding his expertise in surveying, drafting, and construction inspection. In 2013, the company purchased a GPS survey unit and an ATV to enhance its survey capabilities.

Over the years, R. Dobbin Engineering Inc. has continued to expand its team and services. In 2015, Josh Warner, P. Eng. joined the firm, bringing his training and co-op experience to assist with surveys, preparation of municipal drainage reports, stormwater management, and project management. Teresa Zimmerman joined the firm in 2016 to perform accounting and office functions. In 2020, the company added David Moores, Dylan Krall, Corey Saunders, Jake Tetreault, and Chris Wild to the team, bringing with them a wealth of experience and expertise in inspections, surveying, drainage superintendent duties, subdivision design, traffic design, construction, and field experience.
