Our Story

At Alcon, we are dedicated to helping people see brilliantly. With a rich history spanning over 75 years, we have established ourselves as the global leader in eye care. Our journey began in 1945 when two pharmacists, Robert Alexander and William Conner, opened a small pharmacy in Fort Worth, Texas, and combined the first syllables of their last names to create Alcon. Today, we are a truly global company, working in over 50 countries and serving patients in more than 140 countries.

Our Business Focus

We are committed to innovation and excellence in eye care. Our business is focused on two complementary areas: Surgical and Vision Care. In Surgical, we provide innovative products and technologies for cataract and vitreoretinal surgery. In Vision Care, we offer a wide range of contact lenses, intraocular lenses, and ocular health products. We invest substantially in Research and Development each year to meet the evolving needs of our customers and patients.

We have a long list of industry firsts to our credit, from the introduction of the DROPTAINER eye drop dispensing bottle to the development of the AcrySof IQ intraocular lens, which has been implanted in over 135 million eyes globally. Our Services

We offer a comprehensive range of services and products to support eye care professionals and their patients. Our Surgical division provides innovative products and technologies for cataract and vitreoretinal surgery, including phacoemulsification systems, intraocular lenses, and vitreoretinal surgical instruments. Our Vision Care division offers a wide range of contact lenses, including daily disposables, monthly replacement lenses, and color-enhancing lenses. We also provide ocular health products, including eye drops, lens care solutions, and dry eye treatments.
