Fred E. Prior bought his first team of black horses on Good Friday in the year 1914. At the tender age of fifteen, he began his business that day, hauling sand and gravel and digging basements. Over the years, the business expanded, and Fred took over full operation, eventually retiring the last team of horses in 1947. As the demand for coal, coke, pig iron, and brick decreased, Fred shifted the company's focus towards the increasing demand for excavation in the area. The company grew and evolved with the times, and today, Fred E. Prior & Sons is a family business spanning over a century, built on a tradition of customer service.
Originally established as a sand and gravel business, Fred E. Prior & Sons has evolved to offer a wide range of services and products. Les Indoe, 1 star: I pulled up slowly, being my first time getting mulch, as it was a tight residential rd. When I pulled up to the site I was met with the owner who looked at me with frustration that I drove down to road. I only googled the address and that's where it took me. I had no idea where this was or knew that there was another way in. It's not my. address it's theirs. Anyway, the face he gave me and the head shaking was not inviting at all.
