Our History

The funeral industry has a long and rich history in Bridgetown, with some of the first pioneers including James B. Reed and Henry B. Hicks. The Reed family operated a furniture factory and funeral parlor, while the Hicks family founded Bridgetown Funeral Services and built their own caskets until the 1950s. The Hicks business was eventually passed down to Hedley Hall, who moved the company to his residence on Granville Street. After Mr. Hall's sudden death, his wife Faye, who was also a licensed funeral director, took over the business. The business was later sold to Robert L. Hall, who expanded the operation to include an ambulance service and the Granville Ferry location. In 1984, the business was sold to the Loewen Group.

These services can include a visitation and/or wake, memorial service, and the scattering or interment of the cremated remains. We can also assist with the selection of an urn and the arrangements for the cremation.

That is why we offer alternative service options, such as a graveside service, memorial service, or celebration of life. We can help you plan a service that is meaningful and reflective of your loved one's life and legacy.
