At Northumberland Music Studio, we are passionate about providing top-notch professional audio and video production services to artists and producers of all levels. Our state-of-the-art recording studio, located in the heart of Northumberland County, offers a unique and inspiring environment for creatives to bring their vision to life.
Our Story
In 1985, our founders, audio engineer and architect James Woods, and performing musician and composer Andy Thompson, embarked on a mission to create a world-class recording studio in a converted century-old barn. Utilizing repurposed wood and materials from a local Mennonite mill, they created a space that would provide access to big-city gear at rural rates, surrounded by a relaxing and serene environment. Today, our studio boasts a large 900 square foot open main room, four additional isolation booths, and a wide selection of microphones and gear.
Our Services
We offer a full range of professional audio and video production services, including recording, mixing, and mastering. Our team of experienced engineers, producers, and session musicians work closely with clients to bring their project to life. Whether you're an emerging artist or an established act, we have the expertise and resources to help you achieve your creative goals. We also offer arrangement and chart services, as well as access to a network of world-class session musicians who can provide remote performances.
Our Facilities
Our studio is designed to inspire creativity and provide a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for our clients. The large main room offers clear sightlines and can accommodate a variety of "live off the floor" scenarios. We also have four additional isolation booths, a relaxing lounge with direct outdoor access, and a small kitchenette. Our studio is equipped with the latest technology and a wide selection of microphones and gear, ensuring that you have everything you need to produce high-quality recordings.
Our Team
Our team is led by Andy Thompson, a seasoned music industry professional with a long career in Canada. As a sought-after session player, writer, composer, arranger, engineer, and producer, Andy has worked on hundreds of projects, including documentary, feature film, and made-for-TV dramatic series. He is passionate about working with new and emerging artists, and is dedicated to providing exceptional service and support to every client who walks through our doors.
