Our Approach

Our team is led by Principal Jim Sheffield, and Founding Principal John Nicholson, who has retired as a shareholder and remains a member of the leadership team and advisor to the firm. Our staff is comprised of a talented group of architects and technologists with diverse skills, who take pride in the work of the firm and strive for constant improvement of their own technical, administrative, and design skills.

Our History

Our firm was established in 1984 as Desh Malhotra Architect, and later renamed Malhotra Nicholson Architect Inc. in 1990. Over the years, we have worked on numerous notable projects, including the Zerin Seniors project, Springbank MEWS, Visual Arts Building at Western University, and the Odell Jalna non-profit housing project. In 2004, Jim Sheffield became an associate of the firm, and in 2008, we began working on healthcare projects, including the Specialized Mental Health Parkwood project.
