About Us

Thompson Tooze Mclean & Elkin is a full-service litigation law firm that specializes in insurance defense, personal injury, and automobile law. Our firm was founded in 1948 by Joseph Thompson, QC & Clair Tooze, QC, who represented some of the top players in the insurance industry located in Toronto's business core. Richard Mclean joined them as a partner in 1963 and is now the most senior counsel and partner emeritus. Mark Elkin joined the firm in 1992 and is the current managing partner. In 2000, the firm moved to its current location on St. Patrick Street, just steps away from Toronto's University court house.

Our firm has grown to over 30 staff members, including 13 lawyers and two articling students. We take pride in our team of experienced paralegals, law clerks, legal assistants, and office management who have contributed to the firm's success and long-standing service to our clients. Our focus is on our clients, and we are committed to providing them with the best possible outcomes by utilizing our years of trial experience and advocating on their behalf.
