Welcome to Personal Touch Eatery & Catering, a unique dining establishment and catering service located in the heart of Sarnia, Ontario. Established in 2011 by Chef Paresh Thakkar, Personal Touch Eatery & Catering has become a local favorite for those seeking a memorable and delicious dining experience.
Chef Thakkar has over 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry, having worked at esteemed establishments such as Lola's, Paddy Flaherty's, and two restaurants in Canmore, Alberta. His passion for cooking was ignited at a young age, as he watched his mother and grandmother prepare meals using their senses to guide them. This traditional method of cooking inspired Thakkar to learn by watching, tasting, and smelling, resulting in a unique culinary style that is showcased in the dishes at Personal Touch Eatery & Catering.
Although Thakkar initially pursued a career in accounting, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, he realized that his true calling was in the kitchen. He attended culinary school at Fanshawe College in 2006, earning both a business degree and a culinary arts degree. This combination of business acumen and culinary expertise has proved invaluable in running Personal Touch Eatery & Catering.
Sarnia holds a special place in Chef Thakkar's heart, and he is proud to call it home. The picturesque lakefront setting provides a perfect backdrop for the Eatery, and Thakkar can often be found taking a dip in the lake after a long day in the kitchen.
In 2015, Chef Thakkar had the opportunity to showcase his culinary skills on the popular television show Chopped Canada. The application process was rigorous, involving a portfolio submission, phone interview, and on-camera interview. The entire episode was filmed in one day, an experience that Thakkar describes as both fun and challenging. Although he did not win the competition, Thakkar was grateful for the opportunity to represent Sarnia and Personal Touch Eatery & Catering on a national stage.
Our Services
Personal Touch Eatery & Catering offers a variety of services to suit every dining need. The Eatery, located at 144 Mitton St. South, is open Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM and offers an eclectic menu of sandwiches, weekly specials, and ever-changing soups, salads, and dips. With over 1,000 types of hummus having been created and served with homemade pita chips, there is always something new and exciting to try.
Chef Thakkar's creativity is inspired by the seasons and local produce, resulting in a constantly evolving menu that reflects the best of what the region has to offer. The selection of frozen prepared meals is also constantly changing, with a variety of options available for take-home convenience.
In addition to the Eatery, Personal Touch Catering offers a wide range of services, from intimate in-home private dinners to large-scale weddings and corporate events. With no set menus, Chef Thakkar loves the challenge of creating a unique dining experience for each client. Whether it's a themed event or a customized menu, Personal Touch Catering prides itself on exceeding expectations.
