Our Services

We can prepare medications in unique strengths and dosage forms, such as liquids, suppositories, and creams, that are not commercially available. We can also create medications that are free of allergens, dyes, and other ingredients that may cause adverse reactions. Additionally, we can compound medications that are no longer commercially available, making it possible for patients to continue receiving the medications they need.

Our compounding laboratory is fully equipped with specialized equipment and a sterile environment, and our team of experienced compounders follows strict quality control measures to ensure the highest level of quality and safety. We adhere to the Canadian Federal and Provincial Standards for Pharmaceutical Compounding and have been producing high-quality compounded preparations since 1910.

What is Compounding?

Compounding is the art and science of creating personalized medicine. It involves working with prescribers to fill a gap in healthcare through customized solutions for specific patient needs. Compounding pharmacies like ours can provide solutions for patients who have allergies to common mass-produced medicine fillers, aren't taking medication as prescribed due to unpleasant side effects or lack of improvement, need custom medicine strengths and dosage forms, or need a discontinued drug or a drug in short supply.

About the Owner/Manager

Dr. John Forster-Coull, the owner and manager of Victoria Compounding Pharmacy, has over 30 years of experience in the field of pharmacy. He grew up in Victoria and completed his undergraduate pharmacy degree in 1988 from UBC, his pharmacy residency at St. Pauls Hospital (1989), and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree (1995) at UBC. He worked in the intensive care units at both the Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospital before becoming the pharmacy manager here at Victoria Compounding Pharmacy in 2001 and then the owner-manager in 2007.
