The Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP) has been regulating the practice of psychology in Nova Scotia since 1980. We are committed to protecting the public by ensuring that all individuals practicing psychology in the province are qualified, competent, and ethical.

Regulation and Licensing

• Setting registration requirements and professional standards
• Investigating and addressing complaints against psychologists
• Prohibiting unauthorized individuals from using protected titles and descriptions of services related to psychology

Public Protection

• Ensuring that psychologists are competent, ethical, and accountable for their practice
• Providing information and resources to the public about psychology and mental health

Supporting Psychologists

• Providing information and guidance on registration requirements and professional standards
• Offering resources for continuing professional development
• Processing applications and renewals for registration

Compliance and Enforcement

• Investigating complaints and allegations of violations of the Psychologists Act
• Probing unlicensed practice of psychology
• Taking appropriate action to ensure compliance with the Act
