Welcome to Apple Tree Landing Family Education Centre, a non-profit early childhood education centre located in Canning, Nova Scotia. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, licensed childcare for children aged 6 months to 12 years. Our mission is to enrich the early experiences of our community's children, and we strive to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that fosters growth, exploration, and learning.
Our History
Our story began in 1987 when a group of residents came together to share a dream for the community's children. They envisioned a place where children could receive enrichment and early education opportunities, and where families could support one another. This vision led to the opening of Apple Tree Landing Children's Centre on Main Street, Canning, in January 1988. Since then, we have expanded and evolved to meet the changing needs of our community, moving into a purpose-built building in 2000 and introducing new programs and services.
Our Philosophy
At Apple Tree Landing, we believe in a "child-centered" approach to childcare. We recognize that every child is unique, with their own strengths, interests, and needs. Our emergent curriculum is designed to respond to the individual interests and curiosity of our children, encouraging them to explore, learn, and grow at their own pace. We also believe in the importance of building strong relationships between children, families, and our experienced and dedicated staff.
Our Services
We offer a range of childcare programs and services, including:
- Infant care for children aged 6 months to 18 months
- Toddler care for children aged 18 months to 3 years
- Preschool care for children aged 3 to 5 years
