Building lifelong skills and friendships, one shift at a time.
The Coquitlam Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe, enjoyable, and positive hockey experience for children and youth in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Established in 1968, CMHA has a long and proud history of developing players' skills, character, and sportsmanship while promoting a love for the game of hockey.
Our Divisions and Leagues
We offer a variety of programs and leagues to suit players of all ages and skill levels. Our divisions include:
1. U6/U7: Designed for players aged 5 and under, our Initiation Program focuses on fundamental skills, fun, and fair play.
2. U8/U9: Our Novice Program continues to develop skills through cross-ice games and modified rules.
3. Rec C League: For players aged 9-18, our Recreational C League emphasizes fun, participation, and skill development.
4. Rep A League: Our Competitive Rep League offers a higher level of play for players aged 11-21.
Safety and Certifications
At CMHA, we prioritize the safety of all players, coaches, and volunteers. All coaches are required to complete certification courses and undergo background checks. We enforce mandatory safety rules and provide resources on injury prevention, concussion management, and emergency procedures.
Volunteers and Coaches
CMHA thrives on the dedication and enthusiasm of our volunteers and coaches. We provide training and support for those looking to get involved in coaching, including our Mentor (Intro to Coach) program and coaching clinics. We encourage parents and community members to Apply to be a Head Coach or volunteer in other capacities to ensure the success of our association.
Development Opportunities
CMHA offers various development programs, such as our Spring, Summer, and Winter Development, as well as Goaltender and Mini C's (for 4 & 5 yr olds) programs. Our aim is to support players in reaching their full potential and fostering a lifelong passion for hockey.
Registration and Fees
We offer flexible registration options to accommodate returning and new players, regardless of where they were born. Our Fees & Payments structure is designed to be transparent and affordable, and we provide Financial Assistance for those in need.
Events and Sponsorship
We host several events throughout the year, including tournaments and our annual Awards Night. These events would not be possible without the support of our generous sponsors. We invite local businesses to partner with us by becoming a Sponsor or Tournament Sponsor.
