The Manitoba Psychological Society (MPS) is a non-profit organization of Manitoba psychologists founded in 1966. Our purpose is to further the use of psychology, as a science and profession, in the service of human health, welfare, and quality of life. We acknowledge that we live, work, and learn on traditional Indigenous lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anish-Ininiwak, Dakota, Dene, Ininiwak, and Nehethowuk, and the homeland of the Red River Metis Nation.
We are committed to decolonization and reconciliation, and we demonstrate that work with our society's action steps towards inclusivity and reconciliation. Our organization is dedicated to promoting the practice of psychology throughout the province of Manitoba, and we strive to maintain a strong presence in the community by providing essential services to our members and the public.
Our Services
As a leading psychological society, we offer a range of services designed to support the psychological well-being of individuals and communities. Our MPS Psychologist Directory provides a comprehensive list of licensed psychologists in Manitoba, making it easier for individuals to find a qualified professional to meet their mental health needs. We also provide resources for the public, including fact sheets, position statements, and advocacy links, to educate and inform individuals about various psychological topics.
In addition, we offer recommended fees for services by psychologists, as well as an infographic that explains what a psychologist is and what they do. Our organization is committed to supporting Indigenous students who are interested in pursuing graduate-level training in psychology in Manitoba, and we have established an Indigenous Student Bursary to encourage and support these students.
Our Commitment
At the Manitoba Psychological Society, we are committed to promoting the value of psychology in improving human health, welfare, and quality of life. We believe that psychology has the power to transform lives, and we are dedicated to making it accessible to everyone. Our organization is comprised of professionals who are passionate about psychology and its many applications, and we are committed to advancing the field through research, education, and advocacy.
Our Land Acknowledgment
The Manitoba Psychological Society acknowledges the history of colonization, land displacement, and other harms of the past and present, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration. We are committed to gaining cultural literacy, engaging in antiracist psychological practice, and advocating for awareness and cultural responsiveness to Indigenous issues in Manitoba and across Canada.
