Our Story
At Schmidt Greenhouses, we take pride in our rich history and commitment to serving the Dryden area since 1948. What started as a small market gardening business by Jack, Carl, and Jess Schmidt has evolved into a full-service garden centre, with over 25,000 square feet of growing and retail space. Over the years, our family-owned business has remained dedicated to providing top-quality products and exceptional customer service to garden enthusiasts in the region.
From Humble Beginnings to a Thriving Business
In the early days, our founders worked tirelessly to build a successful market gardening business, which eventually led to the establishment of a greenhouse operation and a flower shop. After Jack's passing in 1955, Nellie and Ken took over the business, relocating the greenhouse to Highway 17 West, where it remains today. The flower shop, meanwhile, moved to a downtown location at 48 Princess St, now known as the Flower Forest. As the business continued to grow, Ken's son, Kurt, and his wife, Holly, took the reins in the mid-2000s, becoming the third generation of operators.
