Parkdale Green Thumb Enterprise

At Parkdale Green Thumb Enterprises (PGTE), we are a Toronto-based landscaping social enterprise that creates jobs and provides training for people who have experienced mental health issues, addiction, and/or at risk of homelessness. Our mission is to provide meaningful work, promote environmental sustainability, and foster community engagement.

Our Story

PGTE was founded in 2001 as an award-winning Eco-Landscaping social enterprise operated by Working for Change. Our first contract was with the Parkdale Village Business Improvement Area. Over the years, we have grown and expanded our services to a wide range of commercial clients, including Business Improvement Areas, non-profit organizations, hospitals, and community organizations.

Interior Installations and Plant Maintenance

We provide plants to accent your office's architectural features and that will thrive in a range of lighting conditions. Our professional designs, installation, and weekly TLC maintenance visits will keep your greenery lush and healthy.

Planet-friendly Streetscaping

We install flowers and greenery in large planters, hanging baskets, and small gardens to give your Toronto neighbourhood or Business Improvement Area (BIA) a brighter and inviting look. Our garden crew will work to a maintenance schedule that fits your needs and ensures the health of your gardens.

Commercial Groundskeeping

We provide regular maintenance and upkeep of your commercial property's outdoor spaces, including lawns, gardens, and green roofs. Our team of experts will ensure that your property looks its best, while also promoting environmental sustainability.

Our Impact

Our social enterprise has created numerous job opportunities for individuals who have experienced mental health issues, addiction, and/or at risk of homelessness. We have also helped people recover, increased awareness about mental health, and promoted eco-friendly practices in our operations.
