Our Story

Jewellery by Varouj, an illustrious jewellery design studio, has been proudly serving clients in Toronto and internationally for 45 years. The enterprise is the brainchild of Varouj Tabakian, a world-class artisan recognised for his exceptional craftsmanship, innovative design, and commitment to using top-notch materials. With an artistic flair and powerful skills, Varouj has gained respect and admiration from clients including dignitaries, celebrities, and sports personalities, offering custom work that embodies professionalism, meticulousness, and high-quality craftsmanship. The fine jewellery pieces created in this studio are set in platinum and 18 karat gold, adorned with the finest diamonds and gemstones.

The Master Craftsman

Varouj Tabakian, the creative force behind the brand, is a graduate of an international group of master craftsmen in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and has further honed his skills in Paris, Switzerland, and London. He has made a significant impact in the Canadian jewellery design industry since settling in Toronto in the mid-70s, receiving numerous accolades and establishing a reputation for being a talented and fine jewellery designer. Among his many achievements are the Editors Choice Canadian Jeweller awards in 1980, 1982, 1992, and 2006-2008; gold and Grand Prize awards at the De Beer Diamond To-Day Awards in 1981-82; and the Canadian Jeweller's Excellence in Design awards in 2013. He has also been recognised as a finalist in De Beer's International Finalist Award in 1988.

Luminaries and Jewellery aficionados

Varouj's clientele comprises a distinguished list of personalities including renowned classical musician Liona Boyd; National Ballet of Canada artistic director Karen Kain; and former Canadian Prime Minister The Right Honourable Kim Campbell. His past commissions include a letter opener for Unicef Ambassador and actor Sir Peter Ustinov, a gold watchband for The Right Honourable Pierre Trudeau, and a life-size gold basketball for a select client in San Francisco.
