Helping children achieve their potential, one step at a time.

Pleasant Childcare of North York Inc. is a non-profit, community-based childcare center located in the heart of Toronto's North York Newtonbrook neighborhood. With over 28 years of experience, we have established ourselves as a trusted and reputable childcare provider, offering a range of programs for children from 1.5 to 12 years of age.

Our Approach

At Pleasant Childcare, we prioritize creating a nurturing environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. Our enriched programs are designed with the needs of children in mind, acknowledging the formative years as a critical period for development. We believe that children learn best through play, and our programs provide a unique opportunity for social, physical, emotional, intellectual, and creative development.

Our approach is centered around the Emergent curriculum, where children's interests and needs drive the development of our programs. Our educators develop and adapt their programs by observing and listening to the children, building on their existing strengths and knowledge. We believe that every child is an individual with their own needs and interests, and we make every effort to meet the unique needs of each child.

Programs and Services

We offer a range of programs and services, including pre-school, kindergarten, school-age programs, and summer camps. Our programs are designed to provide opportunities for children to engage in quiet activities, small and large group work, and indoor and outdoor active play. We also offer extra-curricular activities, special events, and field trips to enhance the overall childcare experience.

Facilities and Hours

Our facilities are located on the premises of Pleasant Public School and St. Paschal Baylon Catholic School. Both centers boast large windows offering plenty of natural sunlight and offer a variety of age and developmentally appropriate experiences. Our pre-school and kindergarten rooms have their own washrooms, and we have an outdoor playground dedicated to our pre-school and kindergarten children. School-age children enjoy the outdoor space of the Pleasant Public School yard and the adjacent Moore Park.

We are open Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, with modified hours for statutory holidays and closures on certain statutory holidays.

Teaching Staff

Our center is staffed with qualified teachers trained in Early Childhood Education and registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators. We also have assistant teachers who are trained to support the daily activities and programs.

Nutrition

We are proud to serve delicious and healthy meals and snacks, prepared fresh on our premises. Our menu is approved by a nutritionist and follows the Canada Food Guide.
