Our Story
The MPA Society has a rich history that dates back to 1971. Founded by a grassroots group of mental patients and like-minded individuals, our organization has been dedicated to providing support and services to people living with mental illness. Over the years, we have evolved to offer a comprehensive range of programs and services that cater to the unique needs of our clients.
Our Mission and Vision
At MPA Society, we believe that recovery is achievable through support, empowerment, autonomy, and responsibility. Our mission is to inspire hope and support recovery for people with mental illness by establishing and operating social, vocational, recreation, advocacy, and housing programs that support people in their own communities. Our vision is to create a society that is inclusive of people with mental illness, allowing them to make choices about their lives and participate fully in their community.
Our Services
We offer a wide range of services, including:
- Housing: We provide safe and comfortable housing in five cities in Greater Vancouver, supporting over 800 people in their community neighborhoods.
- Support Programs: Our programs are designed to provide emotional support and practical assistance to people living with mental illness. We offer a continuum of services, including advocacy, community resources, homeless outreach, and a range of housing options.
- Recreational Activities: We believe that recreation and socialization are essential components of recovery. Our recreational activities program offers a range of activities, from art therapy to sports and leisure activities.
