The Queen's Club is a distinctive indoor tennis club that has been serving Toronto's tennis enthusiasts since 1957. Our mission is to provide top-quality playing conditions, foster a community of people who share a love for tennis, and offer excellent tennis services for our membership. At The Queen's Club, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional indoor experiences for tennis lovers.
The Visionary Founders
The Queen's Club was the brainchild of Sydney Hermant and his associates who, in 1957, transformed a former ice rink surface into a non-profit, indoor tennis club with a single court. To celebrate Canada's centennial, a second court was added in 1967. Today, The Queen's Club remains one of Canada's premier indoor tennis clubs, boasting a rich history and a prominent place in Toronto's sports landscape as its first indoor tennis club.
Embracing Tradition
While The Queen's Club has experienced improvements and upgrades over the years, the club's traditions, such as member key entry, the honour system for paying for food, beverages, and equipment, and the wearing of white tennis attire, remain intact. These traditions reflect the core values of honesty, respect, and fair play that continue to underpin the club's spirit.
Club Facilities and Services
Our club features two superb separate Har-Tru green clay courts, each enclosed and accompanied by excellent change room facilities and a small fitness area. The mezzanine, attached to the snack bar and overlooking both courts, offers the best viewing for special events and our traditional Finals Day. Additionally, the club provides various tennis services, including lessons, clinics, junior programs, and racquet restringing.
Club Hours and Operation
The Queen's Club operates from September 1st to June 30th and is open from Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. The club is closed on Christmas Day (December 25th), and hours of operation are reduced during December 24th and December 31st (New Year's Day) to 5 p.m.
Our Club's History
Officially opened on October 19, 1957, The Queen's Club was named after the esteemed Queen's club in London, England. Over the years, the club has hosted various tournaments, including the first annual club championship in 1958, and the first interclub tournament with the Montreal Indoor Club in 1959. The Queen's Club has a long-standing reputation for nurturing tennis talent, with many members playing for the Davis Cup, Fed Cup, and holding Canadian champion titles.
Membership
The Queen's Club is a private member's club, owned and operated by the members themselves. Family and individual memberships are available. For all membership inquiries, applicants should contact the General Manager, who will refer all applications to the Membership Committee.
