Horizon Group is a Calgary, Alberta-based public practice accounting firm with a focus on serving the small and medium-sized business community. Our primary focus includes bookkeeping, financial statement compilation and assurance (review and audit) as well as tax services (income tax and GST) for individuals and businesses. Our goal is to provide expertise and knowledge of the various industries with which we have worked and still provide solutions tailored to individual needs.
Our History and Mission
Horizon Group Chartered Professional Accountants was originally started by Barry A. Mah in 1998 as Mah and Company. In 2002, we moved to our current location in West Hillhurst at 303 19 Street NW, Calgary. In 2004, Barry merged firms with Moodie Financial Services. After Barry's passing in 2013, Mah and Company changed its name to Horizon Group Professional Accountants in February 2014. We take pride in the relationships we build with our clientele and in the personalized service we provide.
Meet Our Team
Our team is composed of experienced and dedicated accountants and support staff. Our senior partners include Ryan Mah, Stan Peloski, James McDonald, Yvonne Lau, and Gay Takeda. Our office manager is Barb Hagel, and our receptionist/admin assistant is Jenn Zeiter.
Our Services
At Horizon Group, we help our clients with every aspect of their tax preparation and planning, including individual and corporate returns. We also offer a complete range of accounting and auditing services, including financial statement compilation, reviews and audits. In the event of a tax audit, we are authorized to appear on your behalf before the Canada Revenue Agency.
Financial Statement Preparation
We prepare accurate and timely financial statements that you can present to your financial institution or third parties. We offer three levels of financial statement preparation: Compilation Engagement, Review Engagement, and Audit Engagement.
Tax Planning and Preparation
We keep abreast of the most recent tax legislation and provide tax consulting services and strategies to help our clients maximize their tax benefits. We offer personal income tax, corporate income tax, GST, Trust returns, Estate returns, T5 preparation for interest and dividends paid, T4 preparation and Payroll remittances.
Additional Services
In addition to our core services, we offer general ledger and bookkeeping, accounting system setup and guidance for new or developing businesses.
