A Brief History

The James Bay Inn has a rich history, dating back to 1911. It is the second oldest hotel in Victoria, preceded only by the Empress. Over the years, our hotel has undergone many transformations, including a brief period during World War II when it was operated as St. Mary's Priory. During this time, we had the privilege of hosting the famous Canadian artist and author Emily Carr. Today, we continue to uphold the same standards of excellence and hospitality that have made us a beloved landmark in Victoria.
