Our Optometrists
Dr. Rachel Rushforth, the owner and operator of Admirals Walk Optometry, has been practicing optometry since 1996. Rachel grew up in Victoria and completed her Bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Victoria. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from Pacific University College of Optometry. Rachel has a particular interest in managing the visual development of children and is experienced in providing comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens examinations, and urgent care for eye emergencies.
Dr. Darcy Dennis joined Admirals Walk Optometry in 2019 after earning her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from the University of Waterloo. Darcy was born and raised in Victoria and has a special interest in glaucoma management. She is passionate about educating her patients on their ocular health and providing personalized eye care.
Our Staff
Our staff is dedicated to providing excellent customer service and ensuring that our patients have a positive experience at our clinic. Zoe, our assistant manager and licensed optician, has been working in the eyecare industry since 2017 and earned her diploma in Optical Sciences from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2020. Zoe is knowledgeable about the latest eyewear trends and technology and is committed to helping our patients find the best eyewear for their needs.
Angela assists with diagnostic imaging, scheduling appointments, and helps patients choose their new glasses. She is currently earning her certification as an Optometric Assistant and is committed to providing excellent patient care.
Alanna is our administrative assistant, who keeps the office organized and on schedule. She also performs diagnostic testing before and after appointments. Alanna enjoys spending time with her wife and her cats in her down time.
Rachel is a Certified Optometric Assistant (COA) and has been working in eyecare since 2019. She is available to help patients with their glasses and contact lenses and is a wealth of information on dry eye treatments!
Samantha is a long-time Victoria resident and worked for many years as an esthetician. She has a keen eye for detail and style and is committed to providing excellent patient care.
Our Services
At Admirals Walk Optometry, we offer a wide range of eye care services, including comprehensive eye examinations, pediatric eye exams, contact lens examinations, and emergency appointments. Our comprehensive eye examinations include dilation, visual field testing, retinal photographs, glaucoma check/risk assessment, ocular coherence tomography, education on the health of your eyes, and referrals to ophthalmologists for cataract surgery and other eye health concerns.
Our pediatric eye exams are recommended by the Canadian Association of Optometrists for children at 6 months, 2 years, before they start school, and yearly once they are in school. We encourage parents to bring their little ones in as many times per year as necessary.
Our contact lens examinations include one-on-one time with an optical dispenser to learn how to safely insert, remove, and store your contact lenses. We offer a wide range of contact lenses to suit your needs, including daily disposable, monthly disposable, and specialty contact lenses.
We keep appointments available for ocular emergencies, such as sudden vision loss, double vision, onset of flashing lights and floaters, foreign body, red or painful eyes, eye infections, inflammation of the eyes or eyelids, injury to the eye, scratched eye, uncomfortable or itchy eyes, and dislodged or painful contact lenses.
Our optical boutique features over 400 hand-selected frames, including fashion-forward styles and functional staple pieces. Our selection is constantly changing to ensure that we have the latest eyewear trends and technology.
