Meet Our Team
Our clinic is proud to have a team of highly skilled and experienced RMTs and manual osteopaths. Here are some of our team members:
- John Russell: John graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1989 and has been in private practice since that time. He has been a partner at the Burnaby Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Clinic since it started in 1991. John has received extensive post-graduate training in manual therapy and exercise science courses. He has been an international instructor of St. John Neuromuscular Therapy seminars, as well as Muscle Balance and Function exercise courses. John has been a member of an integrated health team with Dr. Khan and Dr. Yasin, as well as a Massage Therapist for the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League and the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League. John has completed the five years of study at the Canadian College of Osteopathy in 2008. He continues to study and practice manual osteopathic technique.
- Colleen F. Schmitt: Colleen graduated from West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1988 and has been in private practice since that time. Colleen continues to pursue post-graduate training in manual therapy techniques and exercise rehabilitation. As well, she has been trained to instruct Pilates on both the mat and reformer. Colleen has been an international instructor for St. John Neuromuscular Seminars, and a teaching assistant for Muscle Balance and Function exercise courses. Colleen is a partner at the Burnaby Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Clinic and is an examiner for the College of Massage Therapists of B.C.
- Brita Hobkirk: Since graduating in 1992 from West Coast College of massage Therapy in Vancouver, B.C., I have been practicing mainly in the Metrotown area of Burnaby with a focus on preventative and rehabilitation treatments. I have taken courses in Osteopathic techniques, Sports Massage, Pre and Post natal massage, Neuromuscular techniques, Exercise Therapy, Active Release and Kinesiology. In addition, I have instructed at the West Coast College and was a contributing writer to the Massage Therapy Provincial Licensing Exams for many years.
