Healing Happens When You Let Go
At Bowen Technique, our goal is to provide a holistic, non-invasive approach to healing, empowering your body to activate its innate healing wisdom and correct itself. As a Registered Massage Therapist, I, Randy Savard, have dedicated my career to helping individuals achieve optimal health. With over 20 years of experience, I've developed a passion for the Bowen technique, a distinctive form of soft tissue massage therapy that has consistently demonstrated remarkable results.
My Journey
Growing up in Abbotsford, BC, I was involved in hockey and lacrosse, which instilled a strong appreciation for the human body and its capabilities. I pursued my Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and Psychology from Trinity Western University and subsequently attended the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Vancouver, BC, graduating in 1999. After establishing my practice in Abbotsford, I was introduced to the Bowen technique in 2001 and was astonished by its effectiveness. I continued to study and learn about this remarkable therapy, eventually obtaining an Advanced Certification in Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST) in 2002.
The Bowen Technique
Bowen therapy is a unique dynamic technique that stimulates the body's innate healing wisdom, providing lasting relief from pain and dysfunction. By releasing tension in muscles and fascia, this therapy is effective for individuals of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. The Bowen technique's primary goal is to balance the body as a whole, making it an excellent treatment for a wide range of conditions.
How the Bowen Technique Helps
Imagine an injury, such as a twisted knee, injured shoulder, or rolled ankle. When an injury occurs, the central nervous system sends a message to the surrounding muscles to tighten and guard the injured area, protecting it from further harm. Once the guarding is in place, it can remain even after the initial injury has healed. These compensations can alter the movement and function of associated joints, increasing the likelihood of developing dysfunction elsewhere in the body.
The Bowen technique gives your body the opportunity to unravel these compensations, addressing the root cause of the pain and dysfunction. By stimulating the central nervous system, the Bowen technique can resolve various conditions, from acute pain to chronic conditions.
Conditions That Benefit from Bowen Therapy
The Bowen technique can be applied to any condition the human body manifests, but not every condition will respond the same. Conditions that may benefit from Bowen therapy include:
- Cranial and Temporomandibular Joint (T.M.J.) problems
- Headaches, including migraines
- Shoulder and neck tension
- Lower back pain and sciatica
- Hip and knee pain
- Ankle and foot problems
- Whiplash and sports injuries
- Pre- and post-operative care
- Pediatric and geriatric conditions
My Commitment
As a dedicated professional, I remain committed to continuous education, attending courses and workshops to enhance my skills and stay updated on the latest therapeutic developments. My ultimate goal is to help you achieve optimal health, and I am confident that the Bowen technique can play a significant role in achieving this goal.
