Tax Services

Seigneuret & Company recognizes the importance of providing sound tax advice to our clients. We work with a number of highly regarded tax specialists to ensure that our clients benefit from the best and most current tax strategies. Our tax services include corporate and personal tax planning, estate planning, and assistance in complying with federal and provincial income taxes, Goods and Services tax and other commodity taxes. We also provide counselling in the formative stages of a business and in structuring acquisitions and sales of existing businesses to ensure that tax consequences are fully considered. T1 personal tax return preparation is fully computerized with E-file service to CRA (Canada Revenue Agency).

Auditing & Accounting Services

Seigneuret & Company provides a range of accounting services, including general purpose audits of year-end financial statements for corporations and non-profits, special compliance audits as required by such organizations as CMHC, BC Housing Commission, and the BC Law Society, and preparation of unaudited financial statements. Our approach to auditing and accounting emphasizes a substantial knowledge of each client's business, prevailing conditions in their industry, their competitive position, and the importance of their product line to earnings and sales. Business Advisory

We offer general business counselling, bank proposals, business negotiations, accounting system development, operation reviews, cash flow planning, and budgeting. We work closely with our clients to understand their business and industry and provide tailored solutions to meet their unique needs.

Computer Services

We provide on-site assistance and training for Adagio, Sage 50 QuickBooks, Caseware and Caseview, Microsoft Office, and other accounting software. We also offer computerized bookkeeping services with monthly or quarterly financial reporting.

About Lynda Seigneuret

Lynda Seigneuret, the founder of Seigneuret & Company, was born and educated in Vancouver. She started her career in the Small Business Department at Peat Marwick, Chartered Accountants (now KPMG), providing accounting and tax services to small business clients. She obtained her C.G.A. designation in 1983. In the mid-80's Lynda was the controller of an engineering consulting firm with international operations. In 1987 she left that firm to become a management consultant with the Peat Marwick Consulting Group. In this capacity, she worked on a variety of assignments including preparing business plans and assessment reports for companies going public on the Vancouver Stock Exchange, developing training seminars, and preparing financial forecasts for start-up businesses.

History

The firm was originally established in 1989 as Seigneuret and Associates and later acquired the accounting practice of Healey Andrews & Co. The firm then changed its name to Healey Seigneuret & Co and later to J.A. Seigneuret Ltd. After the sudden passing of Jacques Seigneuret in January 1998, a new partnership was formed between Lynda Seigneuret and William Cheng under the name Seigneuret & Cheng. After William Cheng passed away in June 2004, the company changed its name to Seigneuret & Company.
