Our founder, Dr. Mehdi Elmi, PhD, P.Eng, C. Struct. Eng., is a highly experienced and skilled professional in the field of structural and building envelope engineering. With a strong background in engineering design, analysis, and management, Dr. Elmi leads our team with expertise and dedication.

Our Services

Best West Engineers Ltd. provides specialized structural and building envelope engineering services in British Columbia to architects, designers, homeowners, builders, and developers. Our services include:

• Building envelope design and details
• Structural design and analysis of timber, steel, and concrete structures
• Substructure designs such as railings, retaining walls, exterior steps, and decks
• Seismic analysis and design of new projects
• Seismic strengthening of existing buildings and retrofit
• Design of arch-supported structures
• Construction management
• Providing certified structural drawings and required documents and schedules for building permits
• Field reviews and inspections during the construction stage according to local building codes and city bylaws

We also offer renovations, extensions, and tenant improvements, which often require an initial site visit and field review to assess the feasibility of specific engineering services. For projects located within a 15-kilometer radius of our office, we charge a minimum non-refundable fee of $250.00 (excluding GST) for the first visit and project quote. If the client chooses to proceed with our initial consultation and accepts the project quote, this payment will be applied towards their first site visit.

We subscribe to the EGBC's Code of Ethics and are fully certified to perform building envelope and structural engineering services in British Columbia.
