Hurst Bakery, a staple in the York Region and surrounding areas, has been a purveyor of exceptional quality baked goods for over 38 years. Established in 1986, the bakery is owned and operated by Lee and Pauline Hurst, who have dedicated their lives to perfecting the art of baking. As a scratch bakery, we take pride in the fact that all of our products are made from the finest ingredients, using recipes collected by Lee and our skilled kitchen staff over the years. We use only fresh dairy and fruit in our creations, ensuring that our customers enjoy the finest baked goods possible.

Accessible Customer Service Plan

Hurst Bakery is committed to providing excellent service to all customers, including those with disabilities. We are dedicated to creating an environment that is accessible to everyone, and we strive to provide goods and services that respect the dignity and independence of people with disabilities.

We are committed to ensuring that our staff are trained and familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by customers with disabilities while accessing our goods or services. We communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability, and we welcome people with disabilities and their service animals. Support persons are also allowed to accompany people with disabilities on our premises.

In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to services or facilities for customers with disabilities, we will notify customers promptly. We will provide information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated length, and any available alternative facilities or services.

Training for Staff

Hurst Bakery provides training to employees, volunteers, and others who deal with the public or other third parties on our behalf. This training includes an overview of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, and the requirements of the customer service standard. Our staff are trained to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities and to provide excellent service to all customers, regardless of their abilities.

Feedback Process

Customers who wish to provide feedback on the way we provide goods and services to people with disabilities can contact us via email, in writing, or by phone. All feedback will be directed to Pauline Hurst, and customers can expect to hear back within 30 days. Complaints will be addressed according to our organization's regular complaint management procedures.

Modifications to Policies

Any policy of Hurst Bakery that does not respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disabilities will be modified or removed.
