Our Story
The Framing Depot was founded in June 1994 by Steve Morkotinis, who has an extensive background in the picture frame industry. With the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Hughes, Steve learned the ins and outs of the business and went on to create a successful custom and retail-oriented framing business model. Since then, The Framing Depot has grown to become a leader in the framing industry, serving customers in Toronto and beyond.
About Our Founder
Steve Morkotinis, the owner and manager of The Framing Depot, was born in Toronto and currently resides in Ajax with his wife Cindy and their two children, Amelia and Carson. Steve's passion for the framing industry has driven him to provide exceptional services and products to his customers.
Quality of Photos and Service
The Framing Depot has been praised for the quality of the photos they produce. Customers have noted that the photos are great, and they have no complaints about them. However, there have been several issues with the service. For instance, one customer mentioned that the staff had no idea who they were when they returned for their prints. This customer also experienced poor customer service when they were told that their framing request would not be completed as they were too busy.
Another customer had a similar experience, where their photo was supposed to be ready after six weeks, but when they arrived, it had not been touched. The owner, Steve, would not even come out to talk to them, showing a lack of respect for the customer's time and business.
On the other hand, some customers have had positive experiences with the service. One customer was extremely happy with the finished product and the owner took care of a problem with the print not sitting flat without any questions. Another customer appreciated the staff's suggestions and the extra mile they went to ensure the best result.
Pricing and Value
The Framing Depot has been criticized for their pricing, particularly for their framing services. One customer was quoted $17 to put a photo in a frame they had already purchased, which they found to be extremely expensive. Another customer mentioned that the prices were high but felt that the quality and service made it worth the cost.
However, some customers have found the pricing to be reasonable and the value to be excellent. For instance, one artist found the gallery wrapping service to be the best decision they ever made, with the work being flawless and the communication being keen. Another customer appreciated the assistance for loading items into their vehicle and the overall experience.
Overall Experience
The overall experience at The Framing Depot has been a mixed bag for customers. While some have had excellent experiences with the quality of the photos and the customer service, others have had issues with the service and pricing. However, it seems that the staff is generally knowledgeable and helpful, and the quality of the photos is consistently high.
