We take pride in offering our clients a free 30-minute initial consultation on any matter, and if required, we can arrange a consultation at your home or workplace. We also offer weekend and evening appointments to ensure that our clients receive the convenience and flexibility they need.
Our Lawyers
Our team of lawyers is dedicated to providing exceptional legal services to our clients. Ronald D. Parsons, the founder of Parsons Law, has been a practising lawyer in St. John's for over 35 years and has a general practice with concentrations in the fields of real estate law, corporate and commercial law, and wills and estates. Ashley R. Parsons, his daughter, joined the firm as an associate in 2010 and has a varied, general practice that includes real estate law, family law, personal injury/civil litigation, wills and estates, and criminal law. Darlene P. Butler Lucas, who joined the firm in 2018, has a preferred area of practice in family law and also enjoys the practice of wills and estates, and personal injury.
Areas of Practice
At Parsons Law, we offer a wide range of legal services to our clients. In real estate law, we assist with purchases, sales, and mortgages of residential or commercial properties, quieting of titles, acquisition of Crown Grants or leases, and agreements, including rent-to-own agreements and commercial leases. In personal injury law, we help clients recover losses due to automobile accidents, slip and fall accidents, and other types of accidents, including costs for medical treatments, lost wages, and damages for pain and suffering.
In corporate and commercial law, we assist with incorporating new companies, acquiring the assets and/or shares of existing companies, franchise agreements, purchase or sale of commercial real estate and equipment, and commercial financing, including mortgages. In wills and estates law, we help clients with wills, probate of wills, and administration of estates in case of death without a will, advance health care directives, and powers of attorney, including in case of incapacity, and appointment of guardians for mentally disabled persons or minors.
In family law, we assist with cohabitation or pre-nuptial agreements, marriage contracts, and separation agreements, divorce, division of property and debts upon the termination of a marriage or common law relationship, child and spousal support, and custody/access issues. In civil litigation, we handle breach of contract, debt collection, misrepresentation, negligence, and other types of disputes. In criminal law, we represent clients in matters related to criminal code and other statutory offences, including impaired driving, assault, theft, and youth court matters.
Fees
At Parsons Law, we understand that every client's needs are unique, and we offer three basic fee arrangements to cater to their individual needs. Our contingency fee arrangement involves a percentage of the recovery or settlement, while our flat rate arrangement involves a fixed fee for a specific service. Our hourly rate arrangement involves a fee based on the number of hours worked on a particular matter. We are flexible and willing to work with our clients to find a fee arrangement that suits their needs and budget.
