The College of Opticians is a regulatory body dedicated to protecting the public by ensuring that opticians in our province meet the highest standards of competence, ethics, and professionalism. Our mission is to regulate the practice of opticianry in a fair, transparent, and accountable manner, while promoting excellence in eye care and advancing the profession.
Our Objectives
The objects of the College are to regulate the practice of opticianry, establish and maintain standards of practice, and promote the integrity of the profession. We are committed to protecting the public by ensuring that opticians are competent, ethical, and accountable. Our objectives are to promote excellence in eye care, advance the profession, and provide leadership in the development of opticianry.
What We Do
As a regulatory body, we are responsible for governing the practice of opticianry in our province. We achieve this by setting standards for education and training, examining and registering opticians, and promoting continuing education and professional development. We also investigate complaints, discipline registrants who do not meet our standards, and provide guidance and support to the public and registrants. Our goal is to ensure that the public receives high-quality eye care from competent and ethical professionals.

The feedback provided by customers reveals mixed experiences with the service. On the positive side, one customer, Ajaz Syd, rated the service with 5 stars, praising the professionalism and the staff, particularly Fazal and Keisha, for their exceptional assistance. Ajaz noted that the renewal process has become much easier and more convenient since the recent changes.
On the negative side, Susan Chow gave a 1-star rating, expressing frustration with the online renewal process. She mentioned encountering bugs that prevented her from proceeding with the registration, resulting in a loop that could not be resolved.
