Our History

Founded in the USA in 1881, Bourne Mills was originally a cotton manufacturer based in Rhode Island step in history and quality. In 1954, it was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway for $3.1 million USD before renowned investor Warren Buffet took over the company. Around 1986, Bourne Mills of Canada Inc. was sold by Warren Buffet to Gary Morrison, a VP of one of his textile divisions. In 1993, Gary was in poor health and sold the business to his CFO, Richard Turner, who still owns and operates it with his son Richard (RJ) Turner. At Bourne Mills of Canada Inc., we are committed to manufacturing, importing, and distributing high-quality custom drapery workroom supplies, with drapery lining and blackouts as our specialty.
