Let Us Take Care of Your Smile

The Selkirk & Interlake Mental Health Support Centre is a non-profit organization that was incorporated in August 1991. This centre offers a drop-in community setting for adults with a lived experience and is funded via a service purchase agreement with the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (RHA). We are proud to serve the Interlake region of Manitoba, with five centres located in Selkirk, Arborg, Ashern, Lundar, and Lac Du Bonnet.

Our Transitional Employment Program

During the early years of operation, it was evident that an employment piece was needed. At this point, our Transitional Employment Program (TEP) was created. The TEP is a skill-building program that is aimed at rebuilding confidence and self-esteem. This program is based out of the Selkirk Support Centre and the satellite centres. An opening evaluation is completed with the participant outlining employment skills and goals they wish to achieve. Evaluations are done on a quarterly basis to keep the program focused on the individual's goals. Upon completion of the program, an exit evaluation is completed by the Program Director along with the participant. A Certificate of Achievement is presented and ongoing support is provided as needed.

The Interlake-Eastern RHA Employment Development Counselor works collaboratively with the Selkirk Support Centre and may utilize this program for any client expressing an interest in re-entering the labour force. This would help to enhance their confidence and skills needed to move on to the next level of employment.

The Sunflower Cafe

In addition to our TEP, we also operate The Sunflower Cafe, which is located at 825 Manitoba Avenue in Selkirk. The Sunflower Cafe provides work experience and social integration opportunities for individuals who are part of our TEP. The cafe is open Monday to Friday from 9:00AM to 3:00PM and serves a variety of delicious food and drinks.
