Meet Our Optometrists
We are proud to have two exceptional optometrists on our team, both of whom share our commitment to exceptional patient care. Dr. John Kim, OD, MS is a native of British Columbia, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia. He then continued his education at the State University of New York (SUNY), State College of Optometry, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry (OD) and Masters of Science in Vision Science (MS) degrees. Dr. Kim has extensive experience in treating and managing glaucoma, medical retina, and pre and post-operative surgical management.
Dr. Joanne Chan, BSc, OD was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of British Columbia, followed by continuing her studies at the State University of New York to attain her Doctorate of Optometry degree. Dr. Chan has a particular interest in contact lens fittings and myopia control for children, and has experience working in a myopia control clinic.
Our Services
Our optometry practice offers a wide range of services to ensure our patients receive the best possible care. These services include:
- Comprehensive Eye Exams: A full eye examination involves thorough evaluation of ocular health and function, including assessment of visual function, provision of eyeglass and/or contact lens prescriptions, diagnosis and management of eye diseases, and evaluation of systemic conditions that may affect the eyes.
- Contact Lens Services: Our practice offers a full scope of contact lens options, from soft lens fittings to more complex rigid lens customizations. Our practice is equipped with the latest technology to determine the lens option best suited to the patient's eye anatomy and visual needs.
- Ocular Disease Management: It is essential that many eye diseases be detected early to minimize the chance of severe vision compromise. Our optometrists may co-manage with ophthalmologists, family doctors, and other specialists to ensure our patients' overall well-being.
- Pediatrics: Healthy eyes and good vision are critically important components of a child's ability to learn. We recommend that every child receives an initial eye exam between 6 to 12 months of age, followed by annual exams during the school years.
- CRT (Orthokeratology) Myopia Control: This non-surgical treatment involves the use of special contact lenses to gently reshape the cornea, allowing children to see clearly without the need for glasses or contacts.
