Pine Ridge Veterinary Clinic is a full-service veterinary hospital that has been proudly serving the pets of the Cobourg community since 1976. We understand the value that pets bring to life, which is why we focus on preventative medicine as the foundation of our superior veterinary care. Our clinic was founded by Dr. Vern Chase and his wife Dr. Patricia Stapley Chase. The Chases are the heart and soul of our clinic, having treated countless numbers of local pets throughout the years. They are also active in the community through various organizations, and their values have helped build Pine Ridge into a business and a family.
Dr. Vern Chase was born in the country but grew up mostly in the eastern part of Northumberland county on a dairy farm. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1975 and in 1976, along with his wife Pat, purchased Pine Ridge Veterinary Clinic and settled in the area. In the early years, he practiced primarily on farm animals, but in the last 20 years, he has restricted his practice to domestic pets only. Outside of practice, Vern is involved in volunteer work with the Northumberland United Way and his church, and enjoys outdoor activities such as dragon boating, running, hiking, snow shoeing, as well as working out regularly at the Y.
Dr. Patricia Stapley Chase received her Bachelor of Science in 1973 and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1977 from the University of Guelph. In 1998, she was certified with the International Acupuncture Society (IVAS) and has a special interest in complementary therapies, including soft tissue laser, magnetic, and herbal. She has her PhD in Natural Health (human) as well as certification in personal training for people with Older Adult Specialty. She consults on preventive health issues with a focus on detoxification. Dr. Pat has had the opportunity to serve on a number of community and professional committees over the years. She enjoys weight training, cycling, and walking her dog, Kippy, on the beach.
