Questions
Does new electrical wiring require inspection?
Yes, Ontario law requires inspections for most electrical changes. Minor 'like-for-like' replacements may be exempt, but permits and certifications ensure safety and code compliance.
Can unlicensed individuals perform electrical work?
No. Only licensed contractors, homeowners, or employed electricians can legally perform electrical work in Ontario to ensure safety and legal compliance.
Are outdated fuse panels safe?
Fuse panels can be safe but pose risks if outdated or improperly maintained. Upgrading to breaker panels improves reliability and reduces fire hazards from human error.
What causes flickering lights?
Flickering lights often indicate overloaded circuits or loose connections. These issues can damage electronics and pose fire risks, requiring professional diagnosis and repair.
Should I upgrade to a 200-amp service?
If you experience frequent outages or have a 60-amp service, upgrading to 200 amps is recommended. A load calculation will determine if your current system meets modern demands.
