At the Lakeland Agricultural Research Association (LARA), we are dedicated to supporting the agricultural community in Alberta through unbiased, producer-led applied research and extension. Our mission is to provide reliable and trustworthy information to local farmers, helping them to grow and raise food for Albertans while ensuring the long-term sustainability of their family farms.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services and resources to support farmers in the Lakeland region. Our Environmental Stewardship program helps farmers to combine sustainable practices with profitability, ensuring that their farms will thrive for generations to come. Our Crop & Pest Management program provides resources and guidance on pulse, oilseed, and cereal crop production, while our Forage & Livestock program aims to decrease costs and increase profits for farmers through innovative feed and grazing strategies.

Our Research program is at the heart of what we do, conducting innovative and sustainable agricultural studies in Northeastern Alberta.
