Fairmount Bagel has a rich history that dates back to 1919, when Isadore Shlafman, a Russian immigrant, arrived in Canada and opened the first bagel bakery in Montreal. The Montreal Bagel Bakery, located in the heart of the city, was a humble beginning for what would become a beloved institution. Shlafman's passion for traditional bagel-making was evident from the start, as he perfected the art of rolling by hand and baking in a wood-fired oven. This dedication to quality and tradition has remained unchanged, and today, Fairmount Bagel is still dedicated to producing the finest, most authentic bagels in the world.
