West Niagara Mental Health is a community-based mental health program located in Grimsby, Ontario. We provide evidence-based consultation, assessment, and treatment for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Our dedicated team of professionals works collaboratively with each client to develop a personalized treatment plan that meets their unique needs.
What We Do
Our services are diverse and tailored to address a wide range of mental health concerns. Some of the specific services we offer include:
Consultation/Assessment
- Initial consultations and assessments are conducted by skilled professionals in collaboration with a psychiatrist.
- This involves gathering information about the client's struggles and discussing potential treatment options.
Evidence-Based Treatment
- We utilize evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges.
- Our services also involve research and development of innovative treatment approaches.
Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI)
- Specialized program for individuals between the ages of 14-35 experiencing new onset of unusual perceptual experiences.
- Rapid access to care is provided with a target of being seen within 10 days of referral.
Transition Age Based Care
- Specialized services for young adults (16-25) transitioning into adulthood, addressing unique mental health concerns commonly faced during this period.

Clinical Experience
The reviews highlight a mix of experiences at the clinic, with some patients having positive outcomes and others expressing dissatisfaction. Despite the variety, common themes emerged regarding the effectiveness of the treatment received.
Staff Strengths
Several patients praised the skills and dedication of the staff, particularly Chris, a social worker who was described as a "true savior" and a "gift." Chris's expertise, warmth, and non-judgmental approach helped patients feel comfortable and empowered during their treatment.
Treatment Approach
Patients who had a positive experience reported that they were actively involved in their treatment, with practitioners taking the time to explain their approach and answer questions. The clinic's use of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) was seen as beneficial.
Room for Improvement
However, one patient expressed dissatisfaction with the clinic, citing inaccurate assessments, a lack of open-mindedness, and a poor atmosphere among staff. This patient did not recommend the clinic to others.
