Empowering Mental Health Recovery, Together.

At PeerWorks, we believe that everyone deserves to be heard and valued in the mental health system. As an organization of organizations, we bring together mental health Consumer/Survivor Initiatives and Peer Support Organizations across Ontario. Our member organizations are run by and for people with lived experience of a mental health issue or addiction issue. These organizations provide a wide range of services and activities within their communities, all centered around the understanding that people can and do recover with the proper supports in place, and that peer support is integral to successful recovery.

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to acquire, understand, and amplify the unique and distinct voice of consumer/survivor organizations across Ontario. We believe that the experiential expertise of our peers should shape the mental health system to achieve a valued, recovery-oriented, community-based approach to support. Our vision is of a world in which lived experience is valued, peer autonomy and peer culture are protected, diversity is respected, and peer support is available to all.

Our Values

We value lived experience and the skills and knowledge gained through experiencing mental health and/or substance use concerns, and navigating systems and related systemic barriers, stigma, and discrimination. We believe that an independent peer voice is essential, and we commit to respecting and valuing all people and embracing diverse experiences related to race, religion, spirituality, ethnicity, gender identity, age, class, income, sexual identity, disability, geographic location, and unique life experiences.

Our Services

We offer a range of services and training programs, including training programs such as our Peer Support Core Essentials Training Program and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Training. Our training programs are designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge they need to provide effective peer support and advocate for the mental health needs of their communities.

Our News and Events

We provide a weekly electronic bulletin, News to Go, which highlights current news and developments related to mental health and addictions knowledge, research, and policy. We also host an annual conference and awards ceremony, as well as a range of community events and webinars.
